Advint has been chosen by Valeo, a world leading Tier 1 automotive supplier, to provide automatic functional test capability for the next generation Mercedes S-Class SUV climate control systems. These climate control systems offer intelligent heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that enhance individual comfort for vehicle occupants in all circumstances while limiting energy consumption. The HVAC systems contains fans, heat exchangers, actuators, sensors, plastic housings, regulators, etc. Climate control systems require functional test to verify units are built properly and operation is compliant with heating/cooling and blower output specifications.
Advint was chosen due to its broad capability in test & measurement, system design software development, and previous automotive HVAC test experience. Valeo desired turn-key systems for production test of the climate control system. Advint was responsible for test system design, development, procurement, fabrication, test, installation, and documentation.
The test chamber employs data acquisition hardware controlled by National Instruments (NI) software LabVIEW and LabWindows CVI, under control of NI TestStand test executive. Sensors are strategically placed around the unit during test to ensure proper assembly of the climate control system by verifying placement of seals, gaskets, baffles, doors, posts, etc. The data acquisition system ensures proper blower operation, temperature sensor, acoustical properties, and other electrical characteristics.
System operation guides the assembler through the entire production and test sequence with final test being performed on the End Of Line (EOL) test stand. The hardware platform is a mixture of NI CompactRIO, embedded computer, power supplies, sensors, Zebra printer, and other ancillary components. The system facilitates increased production for the line with modular software that can be easily maintained while providing a proven roadmap for future production line support.
Valeo is an independent industrial group dedicated to the design, production and sale of components, integrated systems and modules for cars and trucks. It is one of the world's leading automotive suppliers. The Group has 136 production sites, 68 R&D centers, 9 distribution platforms, and employs 74,800 people in 30 countries.
Advint is a rapidly growing system integrator of automated test systems located in Columbus, OH. The company is an NI Alliance Member, an Agilent Technologies Channel Partner, a member of the Teradyne Support Network, and part of the Huntron Integration Service Network. Advint provides hardware/software development and systems integration services in support of the test & measurement, and industrial automation industries.
