Advint's Puma ruggedized mobile test system has been featured in National Instruments (NI's) 4th Quarter 2005 Instrumentation Newsletter. The Instrumentation Newsletter is an award-winning global measurement and automation publication that provides in-depth product and technology information. The Puma is a scalable, open-architecture platform that delivers factory-to-field functional testing for a wide variety of weapon system electronics. The U.S. Government currently uses Puma for maintenance support of one of its leading biological detection system.
The Puma contains an NI embedded controller with an 18-slot PXI and four-slot SCXIchassis to house a wide variety of NI digital, analog, electro-optics, RF, and switch instrumentation. It offers both National Instruments LabWindows/CVI and LabVIEW test programming environments under the control of TestStand test management software. The Puma also uses NI's Switch Executive intelligent switch management and routing application. With NI Switch Executive, increased development productivity is gained by interactively configuring and naming switch modules, external connections, and signal routes. Puma's field calibration routines were created using NI's Calibration Executive. Calibration Executive is a software tool for calibrating and adjusting I/O channels on National Instruments measurement devices. NI Calibration Executive can be operated in either automatic or manual mode through an intuitive user interface. In addition, the Calibration Executive provides reporting capabilities for documenting calibration and adjustment results.
National Instruments (www.ni.com) is a technology pioneer and leader in virtual instrumentation - a revolutionary concept that has changed the way engineers and scientists approach measurement and automation. Leveraging the PC and its related technologies, virtual instrumentation increases productivity and lowers costs through easy-to-integrate software, such as the NI LabVIEW graphical development environment, and modular hardware, such as PXI modules for data acquisition, instrument control and machine vision. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, NI has more than 3,400 employees and direct operations in approximately 40 countries. In 2004, the company sold products to more than 25,000 companies in 90 countries.
Advint is a rapidly growing system integrator of automated test systems located in Columbus, OH. The company is an NI Alliance Member, a member of the Teradyne Support Network, and part of the Huntron Integration Service Network.
