L-3 Communications chooses Advint for development of F-35 JSF Test Systems

Effort encompasses Design and Build of PXI-based Test Systems and associated Test Program Sets

Advint has been selected by L-3 Communications, a leading defense company, to design and build automatic test systems and associated Test Program Sets (TPSs) including Interface Test Adapters (ITAs) for support of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) infrared avionics. The program includes development of electro-mechanical designs, equipment fabrication, software development, and systems integration to support factory test of JSF infrared avionics.

The JSF is a joint, multinational acquisition program for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and eight (8) cooperative international partners. Expected to be the largest military aircraft procurement ever, the stealth, supersonic F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (F-35) will replace a wide range of aging fighter and strike aircraft for the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied defense forces worldwide. The program’s hallmark is affordability achieved through a high degree of aircraft commonality among three variants: conventional takeoff/landing (CTOL), carrier variant (CV) and short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) aircraft. Innovative concepts and advanced technologies will significantly reduce weapon system life-cycle costs while meeting the strike weapon system requirements of military customers.
