Advint has been selected by Hamilton Sundstrand to develop a Command Interperter Test Tool (CITT) to provide avionics maintenance support for the P-8 Poseidon power subsystem avionics. The P-8 Poseidon Multimission Maritime Aircraft is intended to search for and destroy submarines, conduct shipping interdiction, and also possibly engage in an electronic intelligence (ELINT) role. This will involve carrying torpedoes, depth charges, Harpoon anti-shipping missiles, and other weapons. It will also be able to drop and monitor sonobuoys. It is designed to operate in conjunction with the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle. The P-8 is being built by Boeing's Integrated Defense Systems division off of the 737-800 platform.
The P-8 CITT will provide an intuitive software interface that will enable the user, via a remote system, to establish connection with, download software to, evaluate the health and status of an array of Line Replaceable Modules (LRMs) within the P-8 power management system. The two power management systems consists of the Secondary Power Distribution System (SPDS) and the Electrical Power Generation Systems (EPGS). The CITT will incorporate the required logic and routines needed to minimize manual intervention in order to reduce operator workload and possible data entry errors. The development, integration and delivery of the CITT will support the development and flight testing phases of the P-8A Poseidon power management systems.
