Advint has been selected by Hamilton Sundstrand to develop a software tool for Operational Flight Program (OFP) download written in National Instruments LabVIEW V8.5 to replace the legacy FORTRAN source code utility used for the Dash8-Q400 aircraft. The Bombardier Dash 8 is a series of commercial, twin-engined, medium range, turboprop airliners that seat about 70 people. Introduced by de Havilland Canada (DHC) in 1984, they are now produced by Bombardier Aerospace. Since 1996, the aircraft have been known as the Q Series, for "quiet" with over 900 Dash 8s of all models built.
The software tool developed by Advint allows for a robust bit for bit off-wing software download and interrogation for verification and update the converted code to work with latest serial devices. As part of the effort, Advint has created a user friendly GUI and wrappers for the tool to ease and error proof the software download procedure. This process provides robust verification of software download to the unit and a pass/ fail result.
