Advint's Chameleon code transformer has been updated to support Borland C to Microsft C# software translations. Chameleon preserves existing software investment via code transformation to modern programming environments. The tool employs XML based language models for legacy and target programming dialects that are created via parsing of existing source code. Transformation models are developed to define the inter-relationship between old and new languages upon which the code conversion is based.
C# is a multi-paradigm programming language encompassing imperative, functional, generic, object-oriented (class-based), and component-oriented programming disciplines. It was developed by Microsoft within the .NET Framework and later approved as a standard by Ecma (ECMA-334) and ISO (ISO/IEC 23270). C# is one of the programming languages designed for the Common Language Infrastructure. C# is intended to be a simple, modern, general-purpose, object-oriented programming language. It has an object-oriented syntax based on C++.
Chameleon facilitates quick and cost effective software re-host. It provides multi-dialect code conversion with a single tool. Chameleon also ensures traceability between legacy and new target code. The tool's open architecture approach allows update and customization by the end user as needs arise. It also increases the conversion quality via systematic defined transformation process. Formatted output can be generated in customer specific formats to facilitate readability/maintainability in accordance with style guide requirements. In addition, Chameleon can also generate code metrics reports and standard documentation
